Hey Lakes Boosters,

Today is the day I'm leaving Japan and returning to Seattle.
I'm both sad and excited.
I'm sad because I had a great time in Japan, it surpassed all my expectations.
I loved the food, the people and the culture.
I'm really sad I'm not going to get to eat chicken katsu as much anymore!
But I'm excited because I get to see my friends and family again.
Everywhere I've been I've never found a more beautiful place than Seattle in the summer.

Thank you to all the boosters who supported us through the year.
Our season didn't end the way we wanted it to, but I think for an expansion team it was a good year.
The fans in Shiga were great, their knowledge of basketball really improved as the season went　on.
It was a great season and I hope to see you guys again next year.

Thanks to all my teammates.
I had a great time with all of you.
This was one of the closest teams I've played on.
The Japanese players did a great job helping the Americans transition to living in Japan, specially Mike.
I wish all of you the best of luck over the summer and throughout your careers.

I would like to thank Coach, teamstaff and everyone in the Shiga Lakestars organization for giving me the opportunity to play and live in Japan for a year.
It was phenomenal, I'm very happy I came.
I was a little nervous at first, I'd never been anywhere in Asia before.
My friends said I would love it and they were right.

Now it's time to say goodbye, hopefully not forever.
Thank you everyone for making this one of the most exciting and eye-opening years of my life.

Hey Lakes Boosters,

今日、日本を発ちシアトルへ帰ります。
寂しくもあり楽しみでもあり、ですね。
全てが期待以上でとても楽しかったので寂しいです。
食べ物も、日本の皆さんも文化も大好きです。
チキンカツがしばらく食べられないと思うと本当に寂しいです。
でも友達や家族に会えるので楽しみでもあります。
それに、これまで色んな国に行きましたが、夏のシアトルよりキレイな場所を見たことがありませんしね。

１年間応援してくれたブースターの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。
期待していたような成績を残せませんでしたが、新規参入チームにとっては良いシーズンだったと思います。
滋賀のブースターは最高でしたし、このシーズンを通して、バスケへの理解も深まったんじゃないでしょうか。
本当に素晴らしいシーズンでした。
また来シーズンも会えるのを楽しみにしています。

チームメイトのみんなにも感謝しています。
本当に素晴らしい時間を過ごせたし、これまでプレーしたチームで１番仲の良いチームだったと思います。
日本人選手はアメリカ人選手の世話をよくしてくれました。
特にマイクには感謝しています。
オフの間も練習に励んでください。
これからのバスケ人生の成功を祈っています。

そして、コーチやチームスタッフ、スポンサーの皆さんにも感謝しています。
日本でプレーする機会を与えていただいてありがとうございました。
日本に来ることは大きな決断でしたが、本当に来て良かったと思っています。
日本どころかアジアにすら来たことがなかったので、初めは戸惑いもありました。
友達は、「きっと日本を気に入るよ」と言ってましたが、本当にそのとおりでした。

そろそろお別れの時間です。
また会える日を楽しみにしています。
皆さん本当にありがとうございました。
人生の中でも最も楽しい時間を過ごせました。
ありがとうございました。

Hey Lakes Boosters,

Thanks for coming out and supporting us against Oita.
We wanted to get two wins, but at least we gained a game on Fukuoka.
This sets up next weeks games as very important.
I am excited for the games already, I hope everyone can come out and support us in Yasu.
We will need all the support we can get.

I am very excited, my parents are coming this week.
They will be in Japan for two weeks, watching our games against Fukuoka and traveling to Okinawa to watch us play.
My parents are very excited, it is their first time visiting Japan.
I've told my mother how good chicken katsu is so now she is very excited for it!

I love the Sakura here in Japan.
My college is in Washington D.C., which is famous in America for it's sakura trees.
The trees in DC were actually a gift from the mayor of Tokyo about 100 years ago.
I like the Sakura in Japan better though. The Japanese Sakura look bigger.
My friends are all jealous of the photos I have sent home.

This is a picture of Mike, Su, Ryan and myself in Kitaoji in Kyoto.
We relaxed in the beautiful weather, next to the Kamo river.

I'm looking forward to our games this weekend, they are our last home games of the year and the most important games of the year.
I know the Lakes boosters will come out and support us with all their strength.

大分戦での応援ありがとうございました。
２勝したかったんですが、、でも少なくとも福岡とのゲーム差は１縮めました。
これで来週の試合がますます重要になりました。
もう今から試合が楽しみですし、皆さんが野洲で応援してくれることを期待しています。

今週は両親が来るのでとても楽しみです。
２週間の滞在で、ホーム福岡戦とアウェイ沖縄戦を観に来ます。
両親も日本に来るのが初めてなのでとても楽しみにしています。
母にチキンカツがどれほどおいしいか教えたので、それも楽しみみたいですよ。

日本の桜は素敵ですね。
僕の通っていた大学は桜で有名なワシントンDCにあります。
桜の木は１００年前に日本から贈られたものなんですよね。
日本の桜の方が僕は好きです。日本の桜の方が大きく見えますよね。
アメリカに送った写真を見て友達が羨ましがってました。

今回の写真は京都の北大路にマイク、ライアン、スーと行った時のものです。
良い天気の中、鴨川のそばでリラックスしました。

今週末の試合が本当に楽しみです。
今シーズン最後のホームゲームで、最も大事な試合となります。
もちろん、レイクスブースターみんなが応援に来てくれると思っています。

Hey Lakes boosters,
Thanks for supporting us so well against Hamamatsu last weekend.
The games were exciting, Sun Ming Ming is a large human being!
Our win on Sunday was very important, it will give us some momentum going into our games this weekend in Maibara against Toyama.
We are practicing hard, I think we will be very focused for this weekend.

My friends are in town now so I've been busy showing them my favorite spots.
On Monday we went to Arashiyama to the Monkey Park.
It was so much fun, I love monkeys!
At the top of the mountain that you climb you go inside a house and you can feed the monkeys through a cage.
My favorite monkey was a really fat one, it reminded me of Jabba the Hut from Star Wars.
He was always screaming for more peanuts.
I told him he needs to go on a diet, but I don't think he listened haha.

Tuesday night after practice all the Americans went out to Hana Touro in Kyoto.
It was really beautiful. We walked all over the Gion district.
My friends were hoping to see some Geisha's but unfortunately we did not.
Ray got a lot of stares, and a couple laughs, because he wore his kimono.
It's an authentic kimono so it's a little short.
It stopped around his knees! My friends are having a great time in Shiga and Kyoto.
They love Japan.

浜松戦の声援ありがとうございました。
楽しい試合でしたね。
スン・ミンミンはデカイ生き物でした。

日曜日の勝ちは本当に大きかったです。
これで、今週末の米原での富山戦に向けて勢いがつきました。
練習もハードにしていますし、今週末に向けて集中できています。

実は今、友達が来ているので、お気に入りの場所に連れて回ってるんですよ。
月曜日には嵐山のモンキーパークに行きました。
むちゃくちゃ楽しかったですよ。サル最高です！
サル山の上の小屋で柵越しに餌をやったんですが、お気に入りのサルは太ってて、スターウォーズの「ジャバ・ザ・ハット」を思い出しました。
ずっと、ピーナッツをくれ、って叫んでたのでダイエットを勧めたんですが、多分聞いてないでしょうね（笑）

火曜日の夜は、練習後にアメリカ人選手全員で京都の花灯路に行きました。
とてもキレイでしたね。
祇園の町並みを散策していて、僕の友達が芸者を見たがってたんですが残念ながら会えませんでした。
レイはレイで、着物を着ていたので、行き交う人々から注目を浴びていましたね。
本物の着物だったので少し小さかったみたいで、膝が自由に動かせなかったみたいです。
僕の友達は滋賀と京都を本当に楽しんでいます。
日本が気に入ってるみたいです。

Hey Lakes Boosters,

I was surprised to see so many Lakes fans in Tokyo on Friday night.
We had fantastic support, some of the best support we've had on the road this season.
We didn't play as well as we wanted on Thursday but were able to take care of business on Friday.
Next week we have a tough matchup against the #1 team in the Eastern Conference.
We'll need all the support we can get!

Tokyo was nice, but I didn't really get a chance to see much. Ray, Ryan and I went to Shibuya to eat lunch one day. We walked around, but I forgot my camera. It was very crowded. I don't mind the crowds though, I can see over everyone so crowds aren't very difficult for me!

I also got to see one of my buddies from my hometown.
We grew up playing basketball together and graduated high school together.
He signed in Saitama about a month ago, just played his first games last weekend.
It was great to see him, during the summer me and him work out together.
Ryan knows him too, it was a nice little Seattle reunion in a McDonalds.

I'm excited to play Hamamatsu next weekend, I hope yall are excited for some great games!

金曜日の東京での試合、あんなにレイクスブースターがいるなんて、ただ驚きでした。
本当に支えになりました。
今シーズンのアウェイで１番だったかもしれません。
木曜日は良くなかったですが、金曜日はしっかり仕事ができたと思います。
来週は東地区１位とのタフな１戦になります。
皆さんの応援が必要です！

東京は楽しかったですが、十分に見て回ることはできませんでした。
レイとライアンと僕の３人で渋谷に昼ごはんを食べに行ったんですよ。
３人で散策したんですが、カメラを忘れてしまいました。
すごい人ごみでしたけど、全然気になりません。
人ごみの上から全て見渡すことができますからね。

あと、地元の友達と会うこともできました。
一緒にバスケをして過ごし、同じ高校を卒業しました。
１ヶ月前ぐらいに埼玉と契約して、ついこの週末に初めてプレーしたんですよ。

去年の夏はずっと２人で練習してたんで出会えてよかったです。
ライアンも彼のことを知ってるので、マクドナルドでのシアトル同窓会になりました。

来週末の浜松戦が楽しみです。
みんなも楽しんでもらえたらと思います。

Thank you for all your support this weekend.
Our whole team is disappointed with the results, it will only make us work harder in practice.

Our next games are in Tokyo.
I am excited, I have never been to Tokyo.
I'll be focused on the game so I won't be able to see many things, but it will still be cool to see some of Tokyo.
Seeing new places is something I enjoy.

Some of my family friends are coming to visit in a couple weeks.
I can't wait, it will be their first time in Japan.
They are really excited, I told them that Lakes boosters are great and everyone will be very nice to them.
I have a few ideas for things for my friends to see and do, but if you have some suggestions for my friends then please write a message!

Sorry I don't have a funny story this time, hopefully next time I will have one!

週末の熱い声援ありがとうございました。
チーム全員が結果に失望しています。
今週の練習をただただハードにするだけです。

次の試合は東京です。
東京には行ったことがないので楽しみです。
試合に集中しているので多くは見て回れないと思いますが、それでも楽しみです。

もう２，３週間すると、家族ぐるみの友人が来ます。
彼らにとって初めての来日です。これもまた楽しみです。
彼らもすごく楽しみにしていますし、レイクスブースターは良い人ばかりでみんな親切にしてくれるよ、と伝えてあります。
友達が来たら、観光する場所や何をしたらいいか色々と考えているんですが、もし何かアイデアがあれば是非メッセージ書いてくださいね。
