Hey Lakes Boosters!

I am very happy with how the weekend turned out in Fukuoka! Two wins is all you can ask for, and we played some of the best defense we’ve played this year, including exhibition games.

Also, it was amazing to see Lakes boosters all the way down in Fukuoka! I was really impressed, I couldn’t believe my eyes! Fukuoka is so far away, and to see Lakes boosters there really gives the team strength to do our best.

I can’t wait for our games this weekend at home. Two weeks on the road, I am excited to get back in front of the Lakes fans! Hope to see everyone there.


On a personal note, tonight I am proud to be an American again. It has been a few years since I’ve been able to say this. I was able to mail my vote from Japan, and can’t believe how lucky I am to have taken part in history. The last eight years have been terrible, both for America and for the world. America has made many mistakes since George Bush was elected President, and tonight is the first step in correcting those mistakes.

America has struggled with race relations since its inception, and for Americans to elect an African-American President of the United States restores my faith in the American public. This is not the cure to all that ills America and the world, but rather the beginning of a wonderful opportunity to improve both America and the world. I believe Barack Obama will keep us moving steadily along the long road of improvement.

November 4th, 2008 is one of the seminal events in America’s history, and to be a participant in it will be something I will forever remember. Great moments in history give people emotional definition, leaving them with intense, private feelings. Tonight my heart overflows with hope and pride.

福岡での週末は本当に最高でした！
プレシーズンゲームを含めてこれまでで一番良いディフェンスができ、２連勝という誰もが望む結果となりました。

あと、福岡まで来てくれたレイクスブースターも最高でした！
みんなの姿を見た時は信じられなかったし、本当にうれしかったです。
遠く離れた福岡までレイクスブースターが来てくれたことは本当に力になりました。

今週末はホームゲーム、待ち遠しいです。
２週連続のアウェイ戦を終えて、レイクスブースターのもとに帰って来るのが楽しみでしたし、みんなと会えることを楽しみにしています。


ここからは個人的な思いを。
今日、アメリカ人としての誇りを数年ぶりに取り戻しました。
アメリカの大統領選に日本からメールで投票することができ、新たな歴史の一部を担えたことは本当に幸いです。
アメリカにとっても世界にとっても、これまでの８年間は本当にひどいものでした。
アメリカは幾度となく過ちを犯しましたが、今日ようやく、それらを償うための第１歩を踏み出しました。

アメリカという国は常に人種問題という悩みを抱えていました。
しかし、大統領として黒人を迎えるということは、僕たちにとってアメリカ社会への信頼を取り戻すということでもあります。
これでアメリカや世界中の問題を解決できるわけではないですが、アメリカにとっても世界にとっても改善の兆しとなるに違いありません。
新たな大統領が希望の道へと導いてくれることを信じています。

２００８年１１月４日（現地時間）は、アメリカの歴史において非常に重要な日となるでしょう。
そして、そこに関わったということは一生忘れません。
歴史的瞬間は人々の心を揺り動かし、それぞれの思いを残し、強烈な印象と共に去って行きます。
今日、ぼくの心は希望と誇りで満ち溢れています。
