Sarah and I were staying at
the Global Mission Center in Iwaki.
They organize groups every day to go clean up debris at ground zero (where the tsunami hit hard), give meals to those in shelters, wash their feet, give comfort and so much more.
My day was spent clearing debris for anyone who needs it, then at night I get 2 hours to teach and play basketball with kids.
We came up here through Otsu Baptist Church, and they will help organize any trip for those
who want to come up here for a couple of days or even a week to give a hand anywhere needed.
This is the ultimate team: working alongside fellow men and women, creating hope for those hurting in Japan.
The strength and power of numbers working as a team for Hope is where one feels most alive.

先日まで、妻のサラと私は震災被災地である福島県いわき市の
グローバルミッションセンターでボランティア活動をしていました。
グローバルミッションセンターは、被災地でボランティア活動をする人々を集めて、毎日復興支援に取り組んでいます。
津波の被害がひどい地域での瓦礫処理、避難所での炊き出しや被災者の体を洗ったり、とにかく被災地と被災者のためになることをしています。
私自身は、日中は瓦礫処理、日が沈んでからは現地の子どもたちにバスケットボールを教えたり、一緒にバスケットをしていました。
私たちは大津バプテスト教会を通じて被災地へ行きました。
ボランティア活動をしたいという人々のために被災地へ行くための手筈を整えてくれたんです。
被災地の復興や被災者の明日の希望のために、皆で手を取り合い活動する、これこそが最強のチームだと思いました。
そして、明日の希望のために人々の思いや力が結集し、ひとつのチームとなり支えあう、これこそが生きる証だと実感しました。
滋賀の皆さんのサポートに感謝しています。ありがとうございました。
